Volleyball Falls at (RV) WKU

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Marshall volleyball team lost in three sets (13-25, 14-25, 18-25) to the (RV) WKU Lady Toppers, Sunday afternoon at Diddle Arena.

The Thundering Herd drops to 12-5 overall and 3-1 in Conference USA. WKU improves to 17-1 and 3-0 in conference play.

"It wasn't the outcome we wanted, but we battled at times and had some great moments," Herd head coach Ari Aganus said. "We have a lot of work to do this week and need to execute much better and get back to the basics. WKU is a great program, we will learn and continue to grow."

Redshirt senior Ciara Debell led the Herd with 11 kills. Junior Destiny Leon was second with four. Sophomore Gabrielle Coulter and junior Sydney Lostumo both finished with nine assists. Senior libero Amber Weber led the way on defense again with 16 digs. At the net, sophomore Mion Weldon had four total blocks.

WKU held the lead throughout the first set. Marshall kept it close in the beginning of the second set before the Lady Toppers took control. The Herd battled in the third set and kept it around a three-to-four-point deficit before WKU closed it out.

Marshall's next contest is another road match at Middle Tennessee on Friday, Oct. 11. First serve from Murfreesboro, Tenn., is set for 6 p.m. central, 7 p.m. eastern.
