Women’s Basketball Hosts Coppin State Tuesday Morning

Tipoff in the Cam Henderson Center set for 11 a.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall women's basketball team is back in the Cam Henderson Center with a Tuesday morning tip against the Coppin State Eagles at 11 a.m.
The Thundering Herd enters the game with a 2-1 record. The Eagles come in at 0-3.

The Thundering Herd is coming off a 67-51 loss to the Ohio Bobcats. Marshall struggled in the fourth quarter after keeping it close against the Bobcats who are favored to win the Mid-American Conference.
Redshirt senior Khadaijia Brooks led the Herd with 13 points and added six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Junior Kristen Mayo chipped in with 10 points and four assists. Senior Ashley Saintigene tallied three more blocks and is now tied with Chris McClurkin (1984-88) for seventh all-time in career blocks with 91.
Freshman Savannah Wheeler leads the Herd in scoring with 15.3 points per game. Mayo is second at 14.0 per contest and Brooks is third at 10.7. Brooks leads the team in rebounds with 7.7 per game and is second in assists with 11. Mayo leads in assists with 14 and is tied with Wheeler for the team lead in steals with six. Saintigene is the team leader in swats with 10. She is also second on the boards with 6.3 per contest.
Marshall is shooting 44.7 from the field to begin the season and 38.7 percent from three-point range. The Herd's defense is holding opponents to 33.3 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from three.
Opponent
The Coppin State Eagles are still searching for the first win of the season but the team has steadily improved through each game. The Eagles began the year with a 107-33 loss at Rutgers. Then fell to UMBC (71-48) and most recently to Saint Peter's, 82-57.
Chance Graham is the only player averaging double-figures with 13.0 points per game. Aliyah Lawson is second at 7.3. Oluwadamilola Oloyede leads the Eagles in rebounds with 6.3 per game.
Coppin State is shooting just 29.5 percent from the field and 28.8 percent from three. The Eagles are allowing 86.7 points per game on defense as opponents have been shooting 49.8 percent from the floor and 45.2 percent from three.
