First meeting of two ranked teams in Hoops Family Field history

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The 20th-ranked Marshall men's soccer team has finally returned to Hoops Family Field after its six-match road swing, to take on No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats on Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. It will be the first Marshall home men's soccer match that features two ranked teams in program history.
 
The Thundering Herd enters the match with an 11-2-3 overall record and 3-1-1 in Conference USA. The Wildcats come in at 10-2-3 overall and 3-1-1 in league play. The teams are currently tied for third in the league standings with 10 points, and both teams still have one more conference match following Sunday's meeting.

Series History: 41st all-time meeting – UK leads 21-16-3.
Last Meeting: November 9, 2018 in Charlotte – No. 1 seed, and third in the nation, Kentucky won 2-1 in the semi-final round of the Conference USA Tournament.
 
Prior to the match, Marshall will honor its 2019 senior class on the field consisting of Paulo Pita, Carlos Diaz-Salcedo, Jonas Westmeyer, Illal Osmanu and Bryce Notardonato.
 
Marshall capped off its month-long road swing with a 2-1 win at Oakland on Tuesday, Oct. 29. The Herd went 3-1-2 during its time out on the road and remains in the Top 25 at 20th overall. In the win over the Golden Grizzlies, redshirt freshman Milo Yosef scored his 11th goal of the season and senior Jonas Westmeyer netted his third.
 
Yosef leads the team and the conference in scoring this season as he has put together a great first season in a Marshall uniform. The Herd has outscored its opponents by 25 goals (39-14) this season. Junior Pedro Dolabella is second on the team with a career-high six goals and has added four assists. Ten different players have scored at least one goal for the Herd with eight scoring two or more.
 
Redshirt senior keeper Paulo Pita has remained the rock in the net for the Herd playing every minute this season. Pita has allowed just 14 goals and has a 0.84 goals against average. He has recorded 46 saves and has a .767 save percentage. Pita has tallied five clean sheets this season to go along with his 11 wins.
 
Opponent
The Kentucky Wildcats have spent the entire season ranked in the top 25 and enter the match having made a jump in the standings up to 15th. UK has won its last four after falling 2-1 to then 15th-ranked FIU on Oct. 13. The Wildcats have scored 11 goals in its last two matches, a 4-0 win over South Carolina and a 7-1 drubbing of Wright State on Wednesday.
 
Kentucky has outscored the opposition this season by 18 (31-13). Fifteen different players have scored at least one goal this season with six scoring two or more. Daniel Evans leads the team in goals with seven and points with 18, as he has also added four assists. Kalil ElMedkhar leads the team in assists with six and is second in goals with five.
 
Enrique Facusse has been spectacular in goal for UK with 13 goals allowed and a 0.83 goals against average. He has 34 saves and a .723 save percentage. Facusse has delivered seven shutouts this season.
 
Kentucky's one remaining regular season match is against the UAB Blazers on Friday, Nov. 8, for senior night.
