Men’s Basketball Starts 2019-20 Regular Season Against Robert Morris

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall men's basketball kicks off the 2019-20 regular season with a home contest against Robert Morris on Thursday night at the Cam Henderson Center.
HAVE YOU HERD
Head coach Dan D'Antoni has won his last three opening contests and home openers. Marshall is 4-1 in both regular season and home openers under D'Antoni.
D'Antoni has 96 wins entering the 2019-20 campaign.
Marshall lost 56 percent of its scoring (1,692 of 2,978 points) from Jon Elmore (750), C.J. Burks (654), Rondale Watson (270) and Christian Thieneman (18).
The Herd is coming of it just its second postseason title after capturing the 2019 CollegeInsider.com Tournament crown.
Sophomore Taevion Kinsey is the team's leading returning scorer averaging 10.5 points per game last in 37 games, 13 starts.
Redshirt junior Jannson Williams was the team's leading rebounder last season with 190, averaging 5.1 per contest.
Junior Jarrod West returns after setting the single-season record in steals with 80 during the 2018-19 season.
SCOUTING ROBERT MORRIS
The Colonials finished last season with an 18-17 record and also played in the CIT. Their run ended in the second round with a 77-70 loss to Presbyterian after defeating Cornell 98-89 in the opening round.
Andrew Toole is at the helm of RMU for his 10th season in Moon Township. He has a record of 168-140 during his tenure with the Colonials.
Robert Morris was picked to finish fifth in the Northeast Conference preseason poll and return four starters, Josh Williams, Jon Williams, Yannis Mendy and Charles Bain, with the Williams brothers and Bain starting all 35 of their contests.
Josh Williams led the Colonials by averaging 14.5 points per game, while his brother Jon averaged a team-best 4.8 assists per game.
Bain is Robert Morris' returning rebound leader at 5.1 boards per contest.
