Bendziewicz and O’Dell set career bests

ATLANTA, Ga. – Herd swimming and diving's Catherine Bendziewicz, Heather Sigmon and Jordyn O'Dell all competed on day two of the U.S. Open in Atlanta, Ga., on Friday.

"This afternoon was another great session for us," Thundering Herd head coach Ian Walsh said at the conclusion of action. "We had three swims with two of them being lifetime best performances."

The two lifetime-best performances came from Bendziewicz in the 200m Freestyle and O'Dell in the 100m Backstroke.

"Catherine swam the 200m Freestyle dropping 5.04 while placing 43rd out of 118 swimmers with a 2:03.24," Walsh said. "Jordyn also swam a lifetime best dropping a 1:03.44 in the 100m Backstroke, bringing her less than a second away from the Olympic Trials standard."

Sigmon also competed in the 100m Backstroke.

"Heather has been really consistent through this weekend," Walsh commented about Sigmon. "She was 1:05.9 and 1:06.0 in both of her 100m Backstroke performances. With coming down on volume to get her qualification time two weeks ago at Liberty and then to compete again here is challenging."

Bendziewicz will close out action for the Herd on Saturday in the 100 Meter Freestyle.
