FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. – The Marshall women's golf team got off to a great start on the first day of the JU Amelia Island Collegiate, sitting in second overall out of 16 teams. The Herd is just four shots off the lead.
"We played great today for our first two rounds back for the semester," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "We continue to put ourselves in contention and tomorrow we have to be ready to play and start out strong. I'm very proud of these ladies."
Junior Shelby Brauckmuller and sophomore Kerri Parks are both tied for eighth overall with a 2-over par 146 after the first two rounds. Brauckmuller jumped up 16 spots with a four-stroke improvement from the first to the second round. The junior shot a 1-under par 71 in the second round. Parks combined for six birdies overall on the first day's action to stay in the top 10.
Sophomore Stormy Randazzo moved up four places on the leaderboard after the second round.
68th ranked North Florida leads the field with a team score of 588. Harmanprit Kaur of Georgia State is atop the player leaderboard with a 1-under 143.
