HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall women's tennis team closes its five-match homestand Friday when it takes on the Louisville Cardinals. First serve from the Huntington Tennis Club is set for 4 p.m.

Marshall is seeking its third win of the season Friday when it faces Louisville. The Thundering Herd is looking to break a two-match losing streak in the process.

Marshall has a trio of players with at least three singles wins (Victoria Walter 4, Madi Ballow 3, Anna Smith 3) and five players with at least two wins (Walter 4, Ballow 3, Smith 3, Daniela Dankanych 2, Matilde Mulatero 2).

Each of Marshall's six singles matches went three sets during its 5-2 loss to Charlotte last week.

Anna Smith defeated her first ranked opponent of the season last week when she took down James Madison's Daria Afanasyeva at the No. 1 position in a super tiebreak, 6-7(7), 6-4, 1-0(9).

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT: LOUISVILLE
Louisville heads to Huntington with a 7-0 record through the first three weeks of the season. The Cardinals have also won each of the last two matches against the Thundering Herd, with Marshall last winning in 2016.

Louisville got off to a similarly hot start last season, going 13-3 through its first 16 matches before losing its final 10 to finish at .500.

The Cardinals return five players from its 2018 team, but a host of new faces are in tow for the Cardinals, who made four additions from last season.

SERIES HISTORY
Marshall leads the all-time series between the schools, 10-6, but Louisville has won each of the last two matches between the schools. Marshall's last win against the Cardinals was in 2016 and its last win in Huntington against Louisville was in 2015.
