Women’s Golf Back on the Course at the River Landing Classic

WALLACE, N.C. – The Marshall women's golf team is back on the links for its second tournament of the 2019 spring season at the River Landing Classic, hosted by UNC-Wilmington, at the River Landing Country Club.
The two-day, three-round event begins Monday, March 4, with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. The course is a par 72 with a yardage total of 6,026. Competing for Marshall is senior Ylva Forslund, junior Shelby Brauckmuller, sophomores Kerri Parks and Stormy Randazzo and freshman Jackie Schmidt. Brauckmuller is ranked No. 141 in the country in the Golfstat top 250.
"We had success at this event last year with some low scores and consistency," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "I'm ready to see what we have tomorrow. We are playing well and I believe in them."
In 2018 at the River Landing Classic, Marshall finished fifth overall with a team score that improved with each round. Randazzo was the Herd's top finisher, tied for fourth, as she had a 3-under par first round and a 1-under par third round. Parks recorded a 1-under 71 in the third round as well and finished tied for 12th.
The Herd – ranked No. 95 in the country by Golfstat – is one of 15 teams playing in the event. The other teams are Boston College, No. 32 Campbell, No. 70 Charlotte, No. 76 East Tennessee State, Georgetown, Georgia State, No. 74 Memphis, No. 65 Middle Tennessee, No. 40 Penn State, No. 89 Rutgers, No. 85 Seton Hall, UNC-Greensboro, Winthrop and UNC-Wilmington. Two players from No. 52 East Carolina will be competing only as individuals, so the Pirates are not part of the team lineup.
