Final Round of River Landing Classic Canceled Due to Snow

Teams only officially finished the first round
WALLACE, N.C. – After having the end of the second round postponed due to darkness, the end of the River Landing Classic was canceled Tuesday morning due to snow overnight and in the morning hours. The Marshall women's golf team officially finished tied for sixth.

"Seeing these ladies fight for every shot yesterday and overcoming the cold temps means everything," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "They are so much fun to watch especially when putts are dropping for us. Every week we become closer as a team and I love seeing them together. Ready for the next tournament and hopefully some sun."

Senior Ylva Forslund and sophomore Kerri Parks were the top finishers for Marshall tied for eighth overall. Both players scored a 1-over 73. Forslund stayed consistent throughout the round with one birdie and just two bogeys. Parks bounced back on the front nine after beginning on the back nine. Parks recorded four birdies, including three-straight on holes five-to-seven, to get back into the top 10.

The Herd ended the first round tied with No. 40 Penn State, Charlotte, and UNC Wilmington.

Middle Tennessee took home the title with a team score of 2-over, 290. The Blue Raiders held a 6-stroke lead over No. 32 Campbell, Rutgers, East Tennessee State and Memphis that all finished with an 8-over team score of 296.

Hee Ying Loy of East Tennessee State finished as the individual champion after a 4-under 68 in round one. Jenna Burris of Middle Tennessee and Ashleigh Greenham of Rutgers finished tied for second with a 1-under 71.

Marshall will compete next in the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, March 17-19, hosted by Tennessee Tech at the Highlands Course in Sevierville, Tenn.
