Sophomore chemical sciences major is fifth player in program history named C-USA All-Academic
IRVING, Texas – Marshall women's golf sophomore Kerri Parks was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team, the league office announced Thursday.
Â
Parks is a sophomore chemical sciences major who sports a 3.860 overall grade point average. While excelling in the classroom, Parks has helped the Herd make its way into the Golf Stat top-100 rankings.
Â
"Kerri is not only a great player for us but an even better student," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "She is the best example of what a student athlete needs to be. Works hard in the classroom and on the course. I'm very proud of her and I know she can accomplish absolutely anything she sets her mind to."
Â
The Flushing, Mich., native is the fifth player in program history to be named to the All-Academic squad and the first since Sarah Helly in 2015.
Â
Parks has played in all nine of the Herd's events in the 2018-19 regular season and has her sights now set on the Conference USA Championships, April 15-17. She was a member of the 2018 Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, received the Academic medal for a GPA of 3.75 or better, and is in line to receive both honors again.

Kauth Invitational in San Antonio. Parks shot a season-best 5-under 67 in the first round on her way to the top of the leaderboard. After performance in Texas, she was named Conference USA Women's Golfer of the Week, Oct. 17.
Â
Parks capped the Palmetto Intercollegiate with a 4-under 68 in the final round, moved up 22 spots on the leaderboard, and her score was tied for the second-best score of the round.
