Junior racks up third Conference USA honor
IRVING, Texas – Junior Shelby Brauckmuller was named to the Conference USA Women's Golf All-Conference second team, the league office announced Tuesday.
Â
It is the third conference honor for Brauckmuller as she was named Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2017, and was selected all-conference third team in 2018.
Â
"I have enjoyed watching Shelby mature this season especially after her first collegiate win," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "Her confidence level increased and she is vital to our team success. I look forward to seeing what she will do in her senior season and be someone our younger student-athletes can look up to by being a leader. I know many more records will be set in the future."Â
Â
Brauckmuller's first collegiate win came at the William & Mary Invitational (Sept. 9-10) as she scored a 6-under 210. She began the tournament with a 4-under 68 in the first round and then shot a 1-under 71 in the second and third rounds for the win. She helped lead Marshall to the team win in the event as well. She also finished tied for first with teammate Kerri Parks and Sabrina Iqbal at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational, Oct. 14-17.
Â
The Auburndale, Fla., native had six top-10 finishes out of the Herd's 10 tournaments for the 2018-19 season. She led the team with a 72.69 per round stroke average and helped lead Marshall three runner-up awards along with the win in Williamsburg. The junior had nine total rounds with an under-par score.
Â
Brauckmuller has also spent the 2018-19 season ranked in the Golf Stat top-250 players in the country. Her highest ranking came on Oct. 16, 2018 at No. 127. She entered the Conference USA Championships as the 190th ranked player in the country.
