Thundering Herd Moves into Top 20 in National Rankings

Marshall ranked 18th by Coaches, 19th by Associated Press

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Football has climbed to 18th in the Amway/USA Today Coaches Poll and 19th in the Associated Press Poll, the school announced Sunday.
 
The Thundering Herd (5-0 overall, 3-0 Conference USA) defeated Florida Atlantic 20-9 Saturday afternoon in Huntington and did so on the strength of a pair of touchdown passes by quarterback Grant Wells, 156 all-purpose yards and another touchdown by running back Brenden Knox and five sacks by the Marshall defense. Knox has four consecutive 100-yard rushing performances and has scored at least once – rushing or receiving – in each game this season.
 
Marshall will travel to FIU (0-3, 0-1) for a 7 p.m. ET Friday evening contest in Miami. The game will be carried by CBS Sports Network.
