KYLE, Texas – Marshall University's women's golf team stands 15th (326, +38) after the first round of play in the Texas State Invitational, held Monday at the Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle.
Peytaon Schaffer shot a 79 to lead the Thundering Herd and sits in a tie for 49th in the individual standings. She was followed by Kerri Parks (T-57th, 80), Stormy Randazzo (T-66th, 82), Shelby Brauckmueller (T-76th, 85) and Makena Rauch (78th, 86).
The second round was halted on the par-72, 6,290-yard course due to darkness and will be completed Tuesday morning prior to the event's final round.
Parks currently stands in a tie for seventh in the tournament's par total (22) and 12th in its par-3 scoring (3.22).
