Women’s Tennis Ends Road Stretch with a Win at Fordham

The Herd took the match 6-1
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Marshall (6-3) women's tennis team defeated Fordham (2-5) on Sunday, 6-1 in New York, N.Y.
"It was a good solid win for our team," head coach John Mercer said.
Marshall got an early point after taking set wins in the doubles round. Liz Stefancic and Jutte Van Hansewyck defeated Avery Aude and Genevieve Quenville, 6-4. Anna Smith and Madison Riley beat Arina Taluyenko and Maia Balce, 6-4.
"Anna, Dani and Madison set the tone with some good effort and excellent wins," Mercer said.
After collecting doubles wins, Smith and Riley collected wins on the singles side too. Smith won 6-0,6-4 against Valeriya Deminoya. Riley beat Nicole Li, 6-3,7-5.
Dankanych, Ballow and Stefancic also collected victories for the Herd.
Marshall had a great showing in the singles round, winning five of the six matches.

Marshall women's tennis finally heads home, Friday Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. to face North Texas and Sunday, Feb. 23 against FIU at 11 a.m.
