HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall (6-3) women's tennis faces North Texas (7-2) Friday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. in its first home dual of 2020 season.  

HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall ended the nine-match game away stretch with a 6-1 win against Fordham. Anna Smith and Madison Riley both had doubles and singles wins.
 
Liz Stefancic and Jutte Van Hansewyck pulled off a doubles win against the No. 3 ranked doubles team in the country last weekend against Yale. Both women were named Conference USA Co-Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week.   
 
Although Marshall lost in Yale Friday, Madi Ballow and Riley both collected singles wins.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:  NORTH TEXAS
The Mean Green women's tennis team is coming off of a 7-0 sweep against UTEP and a 4-3 victory vs Louisiana Tech.  North Texas sits at 7-2 on the season and 2-0 in conferences play.
 
All six of the singles matches were won in straight sets. Junior Nidhi Surapaneni and sophomore Maria Ponomareva had perfect weeks in singles. Ponomareva also had a huge comeback against UNT earlier last week, down 5-2 in the third set, she fought back and beat her opponent 7-5.

SERIES HISTORY
North Texas currently leads the series, 2-0. The last time Marshall faced North Texas, North Texas came out victorious, 4-3. That match was in March 2019, in Texas.  
 
UP NEXT
Marshall women's tennis will face FIU in the second match of the weekend on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 11:00 a.m, in Huntington.
