CLEVELAND, Ohio
- The Marshall University women's and diving team competed in the 2020 CSCAA National Invitational Championship on Thursday, hosted by Cleveland State University.

The Herd finished sixth overall out of 33 teams with a score of 164 through 22 events. The remainder of the event was cancelled due the COVID-19 pandemic.

Five swimmers (seniors Jordyn O'Dell, Catherine Bendziewicz, Hannah Robins and juniors Darby Coles and Heather Sigmon) competed for the Herd.

The 400 medley relay team consisting of O'Dell, Bendziewicz, Robins and Coles finished sixth overall with a time of 3:43.00. O'Dell finished seventh in 50-yard backstroke event with a final time of 25.73. Robins finished eighth overall in the 50-yard butterfly event with a time of 24.67. Bendziewicz placed ninth in the 50-yard breaststroke event with a time of 29.26.

Divers Madison Young and Lauren Henderson also competed for Marshall. In the one-meter diving event, Young finished 12th overall with a score of 224.60 and Henderson finished 15th with a score of 219.15. Then, in the three-meter diving, Young placed 13th with a score of 224.85 and Henderson followed in 16th with a score of 158.08. To cap off the diving events, Young placed 10th in platform diving with a final score of 169.5 and Henderson followed in 12th place with a score of 111.24.

"Taylor and I are so proud of this group this weekend," said Marshall head coach Ian Walsh. "Through the past 48 hours there were a lot of unknowns and they took this meet in stride. Out of 40+ teams that entered this meet, we placed sixth overall. Considering we only had five swimmers and our two divers scores that were added to the meet, we couldn't have asked for more."

"This was a big step for our program as we placed over Power 5 schools like Washington State, UCLA, Virginia Tech and University of Illinois. It was also really special to send off the three seniors here representing Marshall University at this level."
