Marshall Women’s Tennis Drops Opening Match

The Herd lost to 5-0 Kentucky on Thursday.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall (0-1) women's tennis lost 5-2 at Kentucky (5-0) in Lexington, Ky., on Thursday.
Kentucky took the early point after winning the doubles portion of the contest.
Kentucky went on a 3-0 lead after Carla Girabu defeated Jutte Van Hansewyck and Carlota Molina defeated Daniela Dankanych. After a comeback in set two, Anna Smith looked to give the Herd a point but ended up dropping her third set to Akvile Parazinskaite.
Madi Ballow secured the first point for the Herd after beating Lesedi Jacobs in three sets.
Gabrielle Clairotte saw her first court time as a member of the Herd, but was unable to collect a set win.
Madison Riley capped the night off by beating Salsa Aher in two sets, giving the team it's second point of the match.
