Thundering Herd center honored

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall center Alex Mollette had been selected as a midseason addition on the Rimington Trophy Watch List. The honor is given annually to college football's top center.

The Suwanee, Georgia redshirt senior moved to center from guard in 2021 and has started all seven games for the 4-3 Thundering Herd this season.

Mollette has helped anchor an offensive line that leads the nation in 10+ (130) and 40+ yard plays (16) and is third in 20+ yard plays (45). It has also paved the way for redshirt freshman running back Rasheen Ali, who leads the nation in total touchdowns (15), rushing touchdowns (13) and points per game (12.9).

The Thundering Herd is also seventh in the nation in passing offense at 353.1 yards per contest.

Mollette is the only Conference USA player to make the list.

The Rimington Trophy Presentation will be held January 15, 2022 in Rocco Theatre in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Marshall is off this weekend, but will resume its 2021 campaign with a 3:30 p.m. home date against FIU on Saturday, October 30.
