Will join Herd as incoming freshmen in fall of 2022

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall women's golf head coach Brooke Burkhammer announced the signing of two golfers for the incoming freshman class of 2022-23 on Friday. The new additions to the Herd Family are Kylie Bowes and Olivia Kochan.

"I'm excited to welcome Kylie and Olivia to the Herd Family," coach Burkhammer said. "I can't wait for them to get on campus and make an impact right away!"

Bowes comes to the Herd from Bluffton, S.C. She has been starring for May River High School, helping to lead her team to two 4A Team State Championships. Bowes has been honored as a three-time 4A All-Region Team selection. She was the 2020 4A Lower State Champion, 2021 4A All-Region Player of the year and the 4A Individual State Runner-up. Bowes has competed in the North/South Championship in Greenwood, S.C. Off the course, she has been involved with Teens for Healthy Youth Club, Diversity and Inclusion Club and Beta Club. Her older sister Sydney is on the women's golf team at Berry College.

"It was not only a great athletic school, but a great place to continue my academics," Bowes said of her decision to sign with Marshall.

Kochan comes to the Herd from Dallas, Texas. She started out at John Paul II High School and then transferred to Plano West High School beginning with the 2020-21 academic year. Kochan helped lead John Paul II High School in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) to District, Regional championships and a second place in the State Championship while she finished sixth individually. Her father played golf at Baylor and her aunt played tennis for Tulane. Off the course, Kochan has been involved in the National Charity League, Ping Pong Club, Key Club and Pro Life Club.

"I chose Marshall because I really like the coach, the team and the community that supports the school," Kochan said of choosing the Herd. "I like the ability to walk across campus quickly."
