HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The No. 8 Marshall men's soccer team is back in action at home to take on the Old Dominion Monarchs in Conference USA action. Kickoff from Hoops Family Field is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The Thundering Herd enters the contest at 6-2-1 overall and 3-0-0 in C-USA play. The Monarchs come in at 1-1-2 overall and 0-1-2 in conference action.

The Herd outshot the Mountaineers 12-4 and 6-3 on goal, however Marshall could not find the back of the net. The Herd took seven shots in the first half with five on goal. WVU scored the go-ahead goal in the 66th minute. It was the first goal Marshall had allowed in just over 335 minutes, the last one coming as the golden goal in the 99th minute in the loss at Akron on March 2.
The Herd still holds a commanding lead in shots over the opposition at 159-47 and 71-16 on goal. Marshall has also outscored its opponents 19-5.
Junior Vitor Dias leads the team and the conference with six goals and 15 points. He is also tied for the team lead in assists with three, along with senior Pedro Dolabella and junior Jan-Erik Leinhos. Leinhos is second on the Herd in scoring with three goals and nine points.
Junior goalkeeper Oliver Semmle has played all but 45 minutes this season (795 total minutes) and has allowed four goals, good for a 0.45 goals against average which leads the conference and is 20th in the NCAA. Semmle is 5-2-1 this season and has 11 saves.
The Opponent
Old Dominion opened the season with a 1-0 win on the road at William & Mary. Since then it has been ties against UAB (1-1) and South Carolina (1-1) before a 1-0 loss at Florida Atlantic on Sunday.
Ettore Casadei has two of the Monarchs three goals and Josh Thacker has the other. Three players have one assist each. Old Dominion has been outshot 49-36 and 23-19 on goal.
Djibril Doumbia has been the only keeper in the net this season. In 400 minutes, Doumbia has allowed three goals, sports a 0.68 goals against average, has 19 saves and a .864 save percentage.
Following the match in Huntington, the Monarchs finish the regular season at home versus Charlotte (April 4), at Kentucky (April 10) and then back home against FIU (April 17).
