Junior defender led Herd defense in shutout of No. 12 Charlotte

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – No. 9 Marshall men's soccer junior Nathan Dossantos was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Dossantos was the reigning Defensive Player of the Week and was honored for the first time this season back on March 16.

The Oakville, Ontario, Canada native played all 90 minutes in the Herd's shutout of No. 12 Charlotte on Sunday to earn back-to-back Conference USA Championships as well as the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Dossantos helped lead the 9th-ranked Herd to its league-leading eighth shutout of the season and sixth in conference play. He led the charge that helped defend the goal as Charlotte had 11 corner kicks in the match and could not find the back of the net.

Dossantos has been excellent all season long in cutting off attackers, winning challenges, and moving the ball right back down the field.

The junior transfer from Duquesne, and all of his teammates learned on Monday that the Fordham Rams will be the next opponent this season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
