Marshall Women’s Basketball Signs Two Players

Rylee Sagester and Alonya Waldon join The Herd
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Women's Basketball head coach Tony Kemper announced a pair of signees as Rylee Sagester and Alonya Waldon are set to join the Thundering Herd.
Rylee Sagester is a 5-7 guard from West Alexandria, Ohio. Through her junior season, she has averaged 17.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game for Tri-Village High School. The lefty combo guard has made 287 threes, for a career three-point mark of 41.5% and was named the Western Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2022. She also has been named Ohio Division IV's District 9 Player of the Year, Southwest Co-Player of the Year, and 1st Division All-Ohio. Sagester is 88 makes away from being the all-time three-point record holder in Ohio girls basketball history.
"Rylee has been one of the most consistent scorers and three-point threats in the state of Ohio over the past couple of years," Coach Kemper said. "She brings great work ethic and skill along with a high basketball IQ. We are excited to add her to our basketball family, she can make an immediate impact on our team."
Alonya Waldon is a 5-6 point guard from Melbourne, Florida. Waldon is a 4x District and Regional Champion, and a two-time 4A State Champion with Palm Bay High School. The 5-6 guard averaged 9.0 points per game her junior season, and has scored 823 points from the point guard position. Waldon also averaged 4.0 assists per game, 4.0 steals per game, and 2.0 rebounds per game in 2021-22.
"Alonya is a true point guard with playmaking skills for herself and others," added Coach Kemper. "We love her positive energy and the effort that she exhibits while playing. She will be a good decision maker within our offense and will make others around her better. We can't wait for her to get here."
