Head coach Tony Kemper enters his sixth season in charge of the Thundering Herd. Coach Kemper met with the media ahead of the 2022-23 season, for the full preseason press conference, view HERE:

The Marshall Thundering Herd brought in 10 new players for the 2022-23 season. With six incoming transfers and four freshmen, the Herd will look to returners such as Kia Sivilis, who appeared in 26 games a season ago. The senior guard from Louisville, Ky. averaged 2.3 rebounds per game in 2021-22. Other returning players include sophomore forward Samantha LaFon, sophomore guard CC Mays (out for season due to injury), redshirt-junior forward Mahogany Matthews, sophomore guard Ksenija Mitric, and sophomore forward Aarionna Redman.

Among the 10 newcomers is junior guard Abby Beeman. The Ridgeley, W.Va. native was named to the 2021-22 NCAA II WBCA Coaches' All-America Team as a member of the Shepherd University Rams. Beeman averaged over 19 points per game with the Rams, shooting 46 percent across three seasons.

Other transfer players include freshman guard Terah Harness (USC Upstate), graduate senior guard Kendall Miller (Akron), junior guard Roshala Scott (Southeast Missouri State), sophomore guard Ashley Tudor (Radford), and graduate forward/center Shanniah Wright (Georgetown).

ABOUT THE BOILERMAKERS

Purdue is coming off a season in which the team finished 17-15 (7-11 Big Ten). As the team enters year two under head coach Katie Gearlds, the Boilermakers made some history in 2021-22.

Purdue set a new program record with 239 three-pointers a season ago.  The Boilermakers reached the postseason for the first time since 2017-18 by making the WNIT.

Senior guard Cassidy Hardin led the team with 78 three-pointers. Hardin returns along with all four other starters as the team returns 76.1% of its points scored a season ago.

Three Purdue players received All-Big Ten honorable mention preseason honors.

Senior Jeanae Terry, who became the first Boilermaker to record multiple triple-doubles in her career, earned honorable mention.

Junior guard Madison Layden hit 45 three-pointers in each of her last two seasons in West Lafayette. Layden received honorable mention as well.

Abbey Ellis finished with the 10th best free throw percentage in Purdue history last year, setting an 85.4% mark.
