Herd Men’s Basketball Prepares for Three Games in Five Days

At Miami (OH) Thursday, home against Coppin State Saturday and Chicago State Monday
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University men's basketball team (1-1) prepares for a trio of games in the next three days as it heads to Oxford, Ohio, for a contest against Miami (OH) (1-2) Thursday before returning to the Cam Henderson Center for contests against Coppin State (2-2) and Chicago State (1-2) Saturday and Monday, respectively.

Marshall won its home opener on Monday, 91-65, over Tennessee Tech.
In his 100th career start, fifth-year senior Taevion Kinsey had quite the night. The Columbus, Ohio, native went 13-for-19 from the field for a game-high 28 points while adding a game-high seven assists and three steals to his stat line. It was the 41st game of his career with 20 or more points. Kinsey currently has 1,986 points in his career, 14 away from becoming the fourth player in program history to reach the 2,000-point mark.
Redshirt senior Andrew Taylor reached the 1,000-point plateau with 17 in the contest as he brought down six rebounds.
Junior Kamdyn Curfman rounded out a trio of student-athletes in double-figure scoring with 10 points as he made four of his seven shots.
Both redshirt freshman Wyatt Fricks and freshman Jacob Conner had seven points and eight rebounds in the win as freshman Micah Handlogten had eight points and eight rebounds.
SCOUTING MIAMI (OH)
The RedHawks are 1-2 this season are coming off a 77-70 road loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.
Mehki Lairy leads his side with 19.3 points and 3.3 assists per game through the first three contests this season.
SCOUTING COPPIN STATE
The Eagles are 2-2 entering Thursday. Before coming to Huntington, they'll take on Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tennessee, on Thursday.
Sam Sessoms is averaging 23 points per game through CSU's first four matchups to go with a team-leading 22 assists.
SCOUTING CHICAGO STATE
The Cougars are 1-2 entering Wednesday as they prepare for a contest against Valparaiso on Wednesday night and a contest at Kent State on Saturday.
Through Chicago State's first three games, it has three student-athletes averaging double-figure scoring with Elijah Weaver leading the way with 14.7 points per game.
Jahsean Corbett has a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game to go with 13.7 points per contest.
