OXFORD, Ohio – The Marshall University men's basketball team (2-1) defeated Miami (OH) (1-3) on a historic night from Millett Hall on Thursday night. Marshall defeated the RedHawks (1-2) 95-69, as fifth-year senior Taevion Kinsey became the fourth member of the 2,000-point club in men's basketball history.

Kinsey joins Jon Elmore (2,638), Skip Henderson (2,574), and John Taft (2,332) as the only members of the Thundering Herd to surpass the 2,000-point mark.

"We played pretty good," Herd head coach Dan D'Antoni said after the win. "We had too many turnovers, but we played good. A coach is never satisfied."

Marshall wasted no time lighting up the Millett Hall nets. Redshirt senior Andrew Taylor opened the scoring with a floater in the lane. The opening possession proved to be a foreshadowing, as the Corbin, Kentucky. native scored eight of the Herd's first 12 points. Taylor led the team with 26 points.

Redshirt freshman Wyatt Fricks picked up the scoring from there, making his first four shots from behind the arc. The freshman's fourth triple gave Marshall a 31-24 advantage with 5:39 remaining in the first half. Fricks finished with 19 points on his birthday.

Junior Kamdyn Curfman has his most efficient shooting night in a Thundering Herd uniform going 5-for-8 from behind the arc as he had 16 points in the victory.

Marshall took a 45-31 advantage into the break. The Herd shot an efficient 16-of-27 (59.3 percent) from the field, and 9-of-16 (56.3 percent) from three.

The second half intensity continued for Marshall, with Taylor sending an alley-oop to Fricks to extend the lead to 21. The Herd's lead pushed up to 29 on Kinsey's landmark free throw to get the historic milestone. The 26-point road victory gave Coach D'Antoni's side its second win of the season.
