Semmle Named Final Men’s Soccer SBC Defensive Player of the Week of the Season

Second weekly award of the season for the goalkeeper
NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University men's soccer graduate student goalkeeper Oliver Semmle was named the final Sun Belt Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the 2022 season on Thursday, as announced by the league office. This is his second weekly award this season having won the same award in week two.
Semmle, a native of Germany, recorded his fifth shutout of the season on Tuesday as he made three saves in a 2-0 over James Madison. The performance helped the Herd lock up the second seed in the 2022 Sun Belt Men's Soccer Tournament. His .746 goals against average and 10 wins led the SBC this season with the five shutouts being tied for first.
The fifth-ranked Herd are back in action on Sunday when they host JMU in the quarterfinals of the 2022 Sun Belt Conference Men's Soccer Tournament at Hoops Family Field. First kick is scheduled for 3 p.m.
