Another Herd sprinter breaks own record
FINAL RESULTS
ORLANDO, Fla. – Mikah Alleyne set a new school record and got the win in the 400 meters Saturday afternoon at the Black & Gold Invitational in Orlando.

The meet was held at the UCF Track & Soccer Complex.
Â
Alleyne finished in 53.35 seconds, three tenths faster than second-place Kiah Williams of host UCF. Alleyne shaved a tenth off her old record, set during the 2021 season.

Alleyne was the second Thundering Herd sprinter to break her own record in as many days. Ashonti Warner also pulled off the feat Friday in the 400 meter hurdles.

Kyleigh Edwards led the Thundering Herd in the 5000 meters, with an eighth-place time of 19:04.60.
Â
Tyra Thomas was MU's top finisher in the 100 meters, with the clock stopping at 14.05 seconds (11th place). Takira Williams also finished 11th in the triple jump, with a leap of 11.89 seconds.

The Thundering Herd's 4x100 relay team of Thomas, Marlee Porter, Krista Perry and Alleyne ran the event in 48.74 seconds, good for 13th overall.

Meagan Ward placed 14th in the 3000 meters, finishing in 11:51.78.
Â
Astoria Beckett took 16th in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.15.

MaryAnn Adebayo threw the hammer 49.56 meters (16th place) and followed that up with a 12.87-meter performance in the shot put, a mark that was good for 19th place.

Raegan Hefner took 56th in the 100 meters in a time of 13.03 seconds.

The Thundering Herd is back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Winthrop Invite.
