Smith Named to Conference USA All-Academic Team

Buffalo, W.Va. native earns honor
DALLAS – Marshall junior Sydney Smith was selected to the Conference USA Women's Track and Field All-Academic Team on Wednesday.
Smith, who sports a 4.0 cumulative GPA in biological science, competed in the 3000 meters for the Thundering Herd during the indoor season. For the spring of 2022 (outdoors), she took part in the 1500 meters, the 3000 meter steeplechase and the 5000 meters.
At last week's Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, she finished seventh in the steeplechase (11:15.28) and earned two team points for the Thundering Herd. She followed that performance with an 18th-place showing in the 5000 (18:10.68), where she was Marshall's top finisher.
Smith is a native of Buffalo, West Virginia.
