HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University men's basketball team (12-3, 1-1 Sun Belt) opens 2023 in Statesboro, Georgia, on Thursday night against the Georgia Southern Eagles (9-6, 2-0 Sun Belt).

Fifth-year senior Taevion Kinsey collected 18 points and seven assists in the contest, both game highs.
Redshirt senior Andrew Taylor and junior Obinna Anochili-Killen each contributed 16 points in the loss. Anochili-Killen also grabbed five rebounds and rejected three shots.

The Eagles started conference play last weekend 2-0 as they picked up victories over South Alabama and at Coastal Carolina.
Georgia Southern has been stout at the defensive end of the floor as it holds its opponents to just 62.6 points per game, second best in the conference.
Carlos Curry and Andrei Savrasov each have three double-doubles this season, tied for fifth most in the league. Curry leads the Eagles in rebounds per game at 7.9, while Savrasov leads the team in points per game at 12.8 and ranks second in rebounds per game with 6.6.
