NEW ORLEANS – Marshall University swimmer Eszter Laban was named Sun Belt Swimmer of the Week on Thursday, as announced by the league office.

"Eszter has been an anchor for us in our distance and IM events since her arrival," Herd swimming and diving head coach Ian Walsh said. "She is picking up right where she left off last season in her racing as we transition into the Sun Belt. This acknowledgement is validation for the work she continues to put into her craft."

Laban played an integral role in beating West Virginia University at the West Virginia Games last weekend in Morgantown, West Virginia.

The Budapest, Hungary, native swam in six events over the span of the two-day meet and won two individual events, both leading the conference (10:26.61 – 1000 Freestyle / 5:07.32 – 500 Freestyle). Laban averaged a fourth-place finish across all her events across the eight-team competition.

Marshall returns to the pool in Harrisonburg, Virginia, for a dual meet at SBC-foe James Madison on November 4.
