Herd Tennis Begins Action at Greyhounds Women’s Tennis Classic

Clairotte, Schut advance to Green Draw finals

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Marshall University tennis team began action at the Greyhounds Women's Tennis Classic on Friday in Baltimore, Maryland. The event is run in teams playing a doubles match and singles matches to a best of three.
"Our ladies competed hard today, especially in the afternoon," Herd tennis associate head coach Robin Cambier said. "It's good to compete against regional opponents. We'll look to keep improving and competing the remainder of the weekend."
Gabrielle Clairotte and Emily Schut began the day with a 2-1 win over Lauryn Hall and Averiana Mitchell from Morgan State. Schut took her singles contest by walkover as Clairotte took her singles match in straight sets over Hall.
The pair then defeated Howards Dana Hall and Nadia Pegram 2-1 in the semifinals with a doubles victory and a Claiortte singles win in a super tiebreak over Hall to reach the Green Draw finals.
After falling in their first match of the day, Rieke Gillar and Andjela Lopicic swept Morgan State's Iva Jankovic and Hannah Smith, 3-0, to reach the Green Draw fifth-place match.
