Herd’s Olivia Kochan Earns SBC Women’s Golfer of the Week Award

Kochan finishes T-4 at Butler Fall Invitational for 2nd Top-10 of Fall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall sophomore golfer Olivia Kochan was named the Sun Belt Conference's Women's Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Thursday afternoon.
Kochan earned a tie for fourth place in the Butler Fall Invitational at Highland Country Club in Indianapolis to lead the Thundering Herd to a third-place finish in the team competition.
"I'm extremely proud of Olivia for being Sun Belt Golfer of the Week," Marshall Women's Golf coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "This is a very well-deserved honor and I'm excited to see her continue her great play as the season goes on."
Kochan finished with consistent rounds of 73-70-72 in the Butler Fall Invitational, which led her to the T-4 finish – her second top-10 finish in as many tournaments this fall.
The Dallas, Texas native ended the tournament with eight birdies, which was top-5 in the entire field for the week.
Kochan also earned a T-7 finish at the Jennifer Duke Invitational in Cincinnati to open the fall slate.
Next week, Kochan will look to make it three straight events with a top-10 finish when she leads Marshall's Women's Golf team to the UNCG Fall Invitational in Greensboro, North Carolina. Play for that tournament opens on Monday.
