Herd Volleyball Drops Opener to Troy

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University volleyball team (10-9, 2-3 Sun Belt) fell on Friday to the Troy Trojans (7-8, 5-0 Sun Belt), 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-19), Friday night in the Cam Henderson Center.

"We just didn't execute offensively," Herd volleyball head coach Ari Aganus said after the match. "Our defense was poised. Our servicing was okay from time to time, but we just didn't put the ball away."

Lydia Montague was in on seven of Marshall's 11 blocks, including three solo rejections. Peyton Neal had 13 digs, while Bella Thompson had 11 assists.

MU couldn't get on top of Troy in the first set as the visitors took the first without trailing 25-20.

The Herd contested the Trojans in the next two sets with the second and third sets each featuring a pair of lead changes and the score tied three times. However, Troy took a tightly contested second set 25-23 and the third 25-19.
