HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Abby Herring will make history for the Marshall University Cross Country program Saturday, becoming the first runner to compete in the Women's 6K National Championship.Â
Herring will race at 10:20 a.m. Saturday from Panorama Farms in Charlottesville, Va.
The NCAA Cross Country Championships will be streamed on ESPNU with live results, which can be viewed HERE. Â
Herring is the first female runner in Marshall's history to make Cross Country Nationals, and just the third runner overall. Head Coach Caleb Bowen anticipates Herring's achievement to be the start of many for the program.
"Where we have not had too many athletes make the national meet, this shows it is possible," Bowen said. "Abby is a girl from Parkersburg South High School, she is a local West Virginian. Hopefully it shows more and more West Virginians that they can do great things, and hopefully our team as well."
