HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Marshall University Volleyball team (12-16, 4-10 Sun Belt) took the (RV) James Madison Dukes (19-6, 12-2 Sun Belt) to four sets (25-12, 23-25, 25-12, 25-15) falling Saturday on the road.
"I love how our team bounced back from last night, Herd volleyball head coach Ari Aganus said after the match. "We showed some really great moments and controlled the second set. Our consistency is what held us back from being able to do that more than one set. We have a small time to put it in motion before our last road swing and conference tournament. We're peaking at the right time, and it's something special when it all comes together."
Following up her triple-double on Friday, Brynn Brown recorded a double-double with 27 assists and 14 digs on Saturday against the Dukes. Peyton Neal registered a team-high 18 digs in the match as Essence Clerkley had 11 kills.
All four sets of the match saw no more than one time of the score being tied or lead changes.
In the second set, Marshall trailed 1-0 early, but kicked it into gear in the set. The Herd led JMU by as many six points, 17-11, after a kill by Lydia Montague on an assist from Brown. While the Dukes fought off four set points, MU sealed the set on a kill by Kylee Stokes.
James Madison took the first, third and fourth sets, 25-12, 25-12 and 25-15, respectively.
