Herd Swimming and Diving has Big Day Two at MVC Championships

Kelsheimer, Laban pick up top-three finishes
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Marshall University swimming and diving had a big second day at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Thursday.
"An incredible night for our team. Eszter (Laban) and our 500 Freestylers set the tone for the evening," Herd swimming and diving head coach Ian Walsh said. "A second place showing that came down to the touch, notching a lifetime best and third all-time in program history. Paige (Banton) and Audrey (West) continued our momentum through the 200 IM and walked away with each a lifetime best and sit sixth and 10th all-time in the event. Our final swim event we had Mia (McBride) and Klava (Katayama) walk away with season bests and moved up in both heats. The final highlight was having Grace (Kelsheimer) and Lauren (Henderson) place in finals tonight, with Grace runner up on 1m tonight. I'm so proud of our group and look forward to carrying this momentum into tomorrow morning."
Eszter Laban started off the evening session with a second-place finish in the 500-Yard Freestyle, narrowly missing first by 0:00.27.
Grace Kelsheimer also picked up a second place finish in the one-meter dive with a score of 263.31 as Lauren Henderson placed seventh at 244.74.
Klava Katayama also had a top-10 performance in the 50-Yard Freestyle placing ninth with a time of 23.34.
