11 Herd S&D Student-Athletes Named to MVC Scholar Athlete Team

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University swimming and diving team had 11 student-athletes named to the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference S&D Scholar Athlete Team on Thursday, as announced by the league office.
Paige Banton, Kate Bolgarskaya, Jenna Bopp, Madeline Hart, Lauren Henderson, Grace Kelsheimer, Eszter Laban, Maria McGovern, Kailee Payne, Federica Savoia and Joelle Williams were those honored for the Herd.
Scholar-Athlete honors require athletes to have competed in the MVC Swimming and Diving Championships and maintain either a 3.5 grade-point average and obtain all-conference honors, achieve a 3.7 grade-point average and receive All-Conference Honorable Mention, or maintain a 3.9 grade-point average and participate in the MVC championship (including non-scorers).
The Missouri Valley Conference had an outstanding 68 student-athletes on the scholar-athlete team this season for swimming and diving. In the 2022-23 season, 18 of these scholar-athletes had a perfect 4.00 GPA. During the 2023 Swimming and Diving Championships, the league recognized Missouri State's Kelly Sego as the Elite 17 Award winner.
