Marshall Women Face Top-Seeded JMU in SBC Quarterfinals Friday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall women's basketball team opens quarterfinal Friday of the Sun Belt Women's Basketball Championship against the regular season champions James Madison on Friday.
Head coach Tony Kemper's group has won its last two, including the regular season finale against JMU, and the second round 60-53 win over Coastal Carolina.

PREGAME NOTES
- Junior Abby Beeman finished with 19 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and five steals in the team's tournament opener. Beeman scored 20 against the Dukes last week.
- Junior Roshala Scott earned 2023 all-Sun Belt Conference Second Team honors Monday. Scott scored 17 against JMU last week, and 16 in Marshall's win over Coastal Wednesday.
- Freshman Sydni Scott made her second-career start in the second round game. The Prospect Park, Pa. native scored 14 in the Herd's first SBC tournament game.

ABOUT THE DUKES
- The regular season champions, James Madison enters the tournament with a 13-5 Sun Belt record, 23-7 overall.
- The Dukes feature the Sun Belt Player of the Year, Kiki Jefferson. The senior averages 18.3 PPG and 8.1 RPG.
