Strom moves to 12-1 this spring in singles
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Marshall University tennis team (9-5, 3-1 Sun Belt) started its road trip with a 4-0 sweep of the Georgia State Panthers (1-11, 1-2 Sun Belt) on Saturday in Atlanta.
"We did a good job battling through today's windy conditions," Herd tennis head coach John Mercer said. "JoJo (Strom) and Andjela (Lopicic) did a great job with strong finishes in their singles matches. Sophia (Hurrion) and Ash (McGrane) finished strong, winning six of their last seven games to get us the doubles point."
The Herd took the doubles point with Doroteja Joksovic and Andjela Lopicic picking up a walkover win at number three doubles. Aisling McGrane and Sophia Hurrion then sealed the point with a 6-4 win at number two doubles.
Marshall picked up the first singles point with Hurrion winning via walkover at number six singles. Johanna Strom and Lopicic then secured the sweep with straight set wins at number two and five singles, respectively.
Strom is now 12-1 in singles during the spring.
