Herd Tennis Captures Road Win at Texas State

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University tennis team (10-6, 4-2 Sun Belt) picked up a 5-2 road victory in San Marcos, Texas, over the Texas State Bobcats (4-12, 0-6 Sun Belt) on Friday afternoon.

"We played a good match in hot conditions," Herd tennis head coach John Mercer said. "We did a good job preparing and played well in most positions."

Marshall started out by taking doubles point with a 6-1 victory by Gabrielle Clairotte and Rieke Gillar on court three and a 6-3 triumph on court two by Aisling McGrane and Sophia Hurrion.

The Herd then got straight set wins at number two and six singles by Johanna Strom and Sophia Hurrion, respectively.
Â
Doroteja Joksovic then sealed the match on court three with a three-set win.
Â
McGrane then took her match at number four singles in a tiebreak.
