Herd Tennis Completes Weekend Sweep with Win at Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Marshall University tennis team (11-6, 5-2 Sun Belt) recorded a 5-2 road win in Lafayette, Louisiana, over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (7-8, 2-5 Sun Belt) on Sunday to complete a weekend road sweep.

"It was good to see us pick up our outdoor game," Herd tennis head coach John Mercer said after the win. "Emma (Vanderheyden) and JoJo (Strom) played very clean matches. It was great to see."

The Herd started off the match hot by securing the doubles point. Aisling McGrane and Sophia Hurrion took their contest on court two 6-4 as the pairing of Gabrielle Clairotte and Rieke Gillar clichéd the point with a 6-3 triumph on court three.

In singles, Johanna Strom continued her dominance on the court with a straight-set win at number two singles. Strom is 15-1 this spring in singles action.

Doroteja Joksovic continued the momentum with a 6-2, 7-5, victory at number three singles. Then Emma Vanderheyden sealed the contest for Marshall with a 6-4, 6-4, win at number one singles.

Andjela Lopicic finished the contest with a straight-set win at number five singles.
