Herd and Dukes on as scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - A full weekend is set for the Marshall Thundering Herd softball team (36-6, 11-2 SBC) against the James Madison Dukes (23-14, 8-7 SBC). The three-game series begins on Friday at 1:00 p.m. from Dot Hicks Field.

- The entire series, we will be celebrating "Alumni Weekend," join us all weekend long as we honor our alumni and remember softball alumnus, Emileigh Cooper.
- Saturday specifically is Emileigh Cooper Day. Before the game, the Cooper family will present the 2023 Warrior Award to a current Marshall softball student-athlete who best personifies the "Warrior Qualities" which Cooper held as a member of the Herd from 2012 to 2015.
- Saturday is also "Signing Saturday" after the game! Come meet our players after the game!Â
- Sunday is "Fun Run Sunday!" Fans 12 and under will have the opportunity to run the bases after the game!
PREGAME NOTES
- Marshall softball set an attendance record in its last game out against nationally-ranked Alabama. The 2,768 to watch Coach Megan Smith Lyon's team were the most in program history.Â
- Marking new milestones have been nothing new for MUSB in 2023, as the team broke a record with 23 wins in a row this season, breaking its previous longest such streak at 17 games. Â
- Junior Camryn Michallas has been heating up at the plate, over the team's last 10 games, the Huntington native is batting .367, with 11 hits, a home run, and five RBI.

ABOUT THE DUKES
- The JMU Dukes are two seasons removed from a 41-win season that saw the team make the 2021 WCWS. The team is led by Loren LaPorte, who is 192-69 in six seasons in Harrisonburg.Â
- The Dukes are led by the top two hitters in the order in Kylee Gleason and KK Mathis. Both are hitting over .350 with 45 combined RBI.
- James Madison primarily sticks to two pitchers with Alissa Humphrey and Kylah Berry. Humphrey leads the staff with over 100 innings pitched, and a 3.08 ERA.
