Saunders Earns Second in Steeplechase on Day Two of SBC Championship

Herd scores four on Friday, places four more for finals Saturday

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Marshall track and field team continued its run at the Sun Belt Outdoor Championship with a pair of scoring results and qualifying times.
Ronnie Saunders finished second in the 3K steeplechase, racing a 9:02.70. The result places the highest finish for a Herd male at a conference championship since 2003.
Additionally on the men's side, Brett Armbruster qualified for the 800 finals with a 1:53.40 preliminary time.
For the women, Kylee Mastin set a new school record in the 800 meter prelims, racing a 2:10.62, to qualify for Saturday's finals.
The duo of Lara Check and Krista Perry concluded the two-day heptathlon with sixth and eighth place finishes respectively.
Championship Saturday begins Saturday at 12:00 p.m. for the field events, and 4:00 p.m. for the track events. 26 finals will take place on Saturday.
