Herd Volleyball Falls in Marshall Invitational Opener to Morehead State

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University volleyball team (2-2) fell 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-23) to the Morehead State Eagles (4-0) Thursday in the opening match of the Marshall Invitational.
"We had a lot of unforced errors," Herd volleyball head coach Ari Aganus said after the match. "I think Morehead State is a really strong team. They went 3-0 the first weekend. They're big, physical, and disciplined, and we're still trying to figure out to piece and play together really well."
Brynn Brown, Kylee Stokes and Lydia Montague each had eight kills in the contest with Brown also recording a team-high 25 assists. Jazminn Parrish registered a match-high 11 digs.
After falling by eight points in the first set, the Herd battled in the second that featured a pair of lead changes and seven points in the frame with the score tied. MSU took the second set by three points (25-22).
The third set went much like second seeing the score tied five times with two lead changes as MU fought during the set. The Eagles secured the match by taking the final set 25-23.

The Herd continues action at Marshall Invitational on Friday night at 6 p.m. against UNCG. The Cam Henderson Center will also host three neutral site matches on Friday with Akron vs. Morehead State at 10 a.m., UNCG vs. Coppin State Noon and Coppin State vs. Morehead State at 3 p.m.
