Marshall Volleyball Falls to Eastern Kentucky

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall volleyball dropped a match to Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday evening at Baptist Health Arena in Richmond, Kentucky.
Marshall and Eastern Kentucky battled tight in the third set, but the Colonels closed out the victory with a 25-19 victory.
Lydia Montague led Marshall (3-5) with 15 kills. Brynn Brown finished with 29 assists while Jazminn Parrish finished with eight kills and 15 digs.
In the first set, Marshall fell behind 18-11, but won eight of 10 points to pull within 20-19. The Herd stayed within striking distance, but never got over the hump as the Colonels pulled out the 25-22 win to gain the early advantage.
The second set took on a similar tone to the first with Eastern Kentucky jumping out quickly and never looking back in earning a 25-16 second-set win.
Marshall returns to action this weekend when the team travels to the Queens Fall Classic in Charlotte, N.C. Play opens at 10 a.m. on Friday when the Thundering Herd takes on Furman before battling the host Royals in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.
