CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Marshall University volleyball team (5-5) swept its pair of matches to open the Queens Fall Classic on Friday with a 3-1 win (25-22, 14-25, 25-21, 25-21) over the Furman Paladins and a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-23, 25-16) of the Queens Royals.
"We challenged the team before this weekend to be more offensive," Herd volleyball head coach Ari Aganus said after the pair of victories. "So far this tournament, they have risen to the challenge. Having Kylee (Stokes) be such an offensive weapon for us has been huge. Brynn (Brown) has done a great job distributing the ball as well as maintaining her offense and defense. It's been great to see them click and play as a unit. We're proud of the two wins, but focused and ready for tomorrow to take on UNC Asheville."
Marshall 3, Furman 1
Brynn Brown helped the Herd to the opening victory with a season-high 46 assists, 11 kills and 10 assists for her first triple-double of the season.

Up to two sets to one, MU found itself trailing Furman 6-2 in the fourth set. However, the Herd rallied by going on a 6-0 run, with Clerkley registering four kills, to take an 8-6 lead. Marshall didn't trail the rest of the match.
The Green and White had its best attack in the fourth with a .439 hitting percentage.
Despite dropping the second set, Marshall never trailed in the first or third to take its opening match of the weekend.

The second set was a battle for the Herd. It trailed 18-14 after never trailing in the first set capturing it 25-15. Marshall rallied to the second frame 18-18, but saw Royals jump back out to a 21-18 advantage.
MU took seven of the last nine points with Neal polishing it off with a service ace to take it by the narrow 25-23 margin.
