Marshall Volleyball Announces 2026 Schedule

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University Volleyball Head Coach Heather Stout announced the team's 2026 schedule on Thursday.

"This senior class has truly been travel warriors throughout their careers, so it was important to our staff to give them the opportunity to open their final season at home in Huntington. This team is already incredibly special. Watching the relationships they've built this summer has been one of the most rewarding parts of the offseason. The way our returning players have embraced our newcomers and immersed them in this community speaks volumes about the culture they're creating, and we're really proud of that," Stout said. "We wanted to build a preseason schedule that would challenge us and prepare us for the level of competition we'll face in conference play. Our exhibition with Virginia Tech will be a great early evaluation of where we are as we head into our first four weekends of competition."

The 2026 slate features 14 home events starting with a home exhibition against Virginia Tech on August 15 and the team's annual Green & White match on August 22.

"We're excited to open the season at home and bring high-level volleyball to Huntington. Facing quality opponents early will help us develop the toughness, togetherness, and consistency we'll need throughout conference play," Stout said.

The Herd then hosts a home tournament in the Cam Henderson Center on August 28 and 29 with contests against Niagara, Bucknell and Ohio. MU's final non-conference home contest comes against Morehead State on September 17.

The Herd's four home Sun Belt Conference weekends this season are against Georgia State (Sept. 24 and 25), James Madison (Oct. 8 and 9), Georgia Southern (Oct. 30 and 31) and Southern Miss (Nov. 12 and 13).

Marshall's road contests are at the Hampton Inn Invitational in Indianapolis with matches against Akron (Sept. 3), IU Indy (Sept. 4) and Youngstown State (Sept. 5) before going to Durham, North Carolina, for matches against Duke (Sept. 11) and Belmont (Sept. 12).

The team's final two non-conference contests are at EKU on September 15 and at Morehead State on September 19.

The Herd's road SBC slate features weekends at ULM (Oct. 2 and 3), Coastal Carolina (Oct. 17 and 18), Old Dominion (Oct. 23 and 24) and App State (Nov. 5 and 6).

"We also wanted to create opportunities for some of our student-athletes to compete closer to home, making this schedule meaningful both competitively and personally," Stout said. "We're excited to continue building excitement for volleyball in our community. Herd Nation has been incredibly supportive, and we're looking forward to creating a great atmosphere in the Cam! Our team is eager to get preseason training underway—it's finally volleyball season."
