Herd Tennis Takes Pair of Road Contests in Kentucky

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Tennis team (3-1) picked up a pair of road victories on Thursday collecting a 7-0 sweep at Bellarmine and a 6-1 win at EKU.

"We had a very strong day, and everyone keeps improving," Herd tennis head coach John Mercer said. "We're looking forward to hosting WVU on Saturday, and we hope to have plenty of support."

Marshall had a very strong day in the Bluegrass State. Johanna Strom and Emma Vanderheyden each won all four of their contests in the pair of matches playing as a pairing at No. 1 doubles with Strom at No. 1 singles and Vanderheyden on court two.

Sophia Hurrion also had a big day with a pair of straight set wins at No. 4 singles and clinching the doubles point against EKU with partner Emily Schut.

Doroteja Joksovic and Rieke Gillar each won their respective singles match at EKU in straight sets at No. 3 and 5, respectively.
