Marshall Volleyball Falls to JMU on Friday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Volleyball team (9-9, 0-5 SBC) dropped its opener of the weekend to James Madison (7-8, 2-3 SBC) on Friday in the Cam Henderson Center.
The Dukes captured the match 25-18, 25-13, 25-23.
"JMU is obviously a great program. To get that close (in the third set) when we don't feel like we're putting up our best effort and executing like we want to, gives us momentum heading into tomorrow and that's all we can ask for," Herd Volleyball Head Coach Ari Aganus said.
Audrey Geer registered a team-high 15 kills as Brynn Brown recorded a double with 18 assists and 12 digs.
The two sides battled in the first set early on with the set tied 7-7. The Dukes jumped out to a lead, but The Herd forced the visitors to call a timeout cutting its deficit to 20-14. JMU took the set, 25-18, with five of the last nine points.
After the Dukes took the second, 25-13, the two sides fought it out in the third. Despite trailing by as many as six, Marshall used a 7-3 run, capped by a Bella Thompson service ace and a JMU attacking error, to see it trailing by one, 21-20, late the in the set.
The Herd tied the scoreboard 23-23 after a kill by Geer. Unfortunately, The Dukes took the final two points to finish the match.

Marshall gets back on the court Saturday at 2 p.m. for its weekend finale against JMU.
