MONROE, La. – The Marshall University Volleyball team (10-10, 1-6 SBC) started the weekend with a four-set road win over the ULM Warhawks (4-15, 0-7 SBC) Friday night in Monroe, Louisiana.

The Herd won the match, 22-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-12.

"Our whole team gritted through a tough start tonight," Herd Volleyball Head Coach Ari Aganus said. "Defensively we weren't on top of our game in the first set and definitely need to step up for tomorrow. I'm really proud of our first ball contact and ability to spread the ball. We're focused and ready to battle again tomorrow."

Audrey Geer led a trio MU student-athletes in double-figure kills with 16 and a .316 hitting percentage. Brynn Brown registered a double-double with 46 assists and 11 digs as Beatrice Ciccarelli had 12 kills and 11 blocks, two solo, for a double-double.

Peyton Neal recorded 18 digs to lead the team in the match.

The Herd trailed by as many as six points in the first set but continued to battle. The visitors fought back to tie the opening frame 21-21. The Warhawks eventually captured four of the final five points to take the opening the set 25-22.

Marshall proved to be resilient. Marae Reilly opened the second set with a kill, and it was all MU from there. The Herd took the set wire-to-wire with three 3-0 runs, including one 6-0 advantage, for the 25-15 victory. The Green and White registered a .273 hitting percentage as it held ULM to a .029 attacking percentage.

The Warhawks garnered a 6-3 lead early in the third. However, a 6-2 run capped off by a kill from Olivia Fogo put Marshall right back in the driver's seat. Although the set was decided by just a four-point margin (25-21) with scoreboard tied 10 times and featuring three lead changes, The Herd's offense went off to take a 2-1 advantage in the match. MU's offense put up a massive .444 attacking percentage with 16 kills and only two errors on 33 attacks.

Despite trailing early, the fourth set was all Marshall. It took its first lead at 5-4 after a ULM attacking error. From that point on, The Herd took 21 of the final 29 points to dominate the Warhawks and seal match with a 25-12 set victory for the road win.
